Trijam #228 Devlog for Notorious Notifications

I am a pretty new game developer, and I started because I wanted to put pixel art into something. I have been working on a mobile game called Alien Trails, but to keep game making fresh, I decided that each weekend I would try to participate in the Trijam, where you have 3 hours to make a game (not including planning). The theme for this one was "less than 10 percent". At first I thought of a platformer with one level, where your phone is on 10%, and you have to race to the charger before your phone dies, but I ended up changing the idea to what I have now. I made it so that there are several platforms that you could jump between, still as a phone running out of battery, and you have to mark as many notifications as read before your phone dies. Notification bells would pop up on platforms, that you would have to jump to in order to answer. To make the game a little more unique, I made it so you can't jump and instead you need ladders. I made the art in Piskel, the music in beepbox.co, and the SFX in Jsfxr. I basically just hit the random button in JSFXR until I got something I liked. The art changed a little bit throughout development. At first, the background was clouds, but I realized how bad I was at making those, so I changed it to a matrix background. I made the platforms and ladders brighter to stand out more, and changed the phone screen from a battery to a face. I ended up finishing the game in 2 hours and 15 minutes.
